Former Crystal Palace and Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle, now at Hibernian, says his physical condition is deteriorating and he intends to retire at the end of the season.
The former Crystal Palace and Newcastle striker signed a season-long deal at Easter Road in the summer and has scored twice in nine appearances.
Gayle scored in last weekend’s 3-1 win over Ross County but has been frustrated by his inability to contribute as much as he wanted to.
“Yes, I have started to express my feelings,” said the 35-year-old, who holds a UEFA B Licence to coach.
“My body is starting to deteriorate a little bit, and it looks like I might have to give up,”
“It’s a big problem. You can’t generate the same speed and power as other people from game to game. It’s hard to recover as quickly as you used to.”
“I want to play all the time, do everything I can to help the team. And when you feel like you can’t do that, it’s a difficult time.”
“I want to play all the time, but with ทางเข้า ufabet injuries and other things. Your body starts to take things in, you might have to think about it.”
“It’s not just the muscle injuries, but there are other things that can hinder you. Like playing in the garden with your kids and things like that. Those are the things I have to take into consideration.”
Gayle was remembered for coming off the bench to score twice as Crystal Palace came from three goals down to draw 3-3 with Liverpool and deny Brendan Rodgers’ side the Premier League title in 2013-14.
He moved to Newcastle in the summer of 2016 for £10m and has also played for Peterborough. Stoke and West Brom.
